What we do

• All our engagements are individually tailored to specific needs. We liaise closely with clients in identifying the benefits of our approach and all our work is totally dedicated to ensuring that there is a rich return on investment, feeding through to net profit. Most of our programmes revolve around the change that inevitably affects all lawyers and personnel in private practice at some stage in their career:

• At senior levels, we will work with existing or newly appointed managing partners and heads of department on their own agendas. We can work on a rolling “on call” basis participating when key issues require an external and discrete perspective or on specific issues over a shorter time frame.

• For those being considered for or who are actually being appointed to a partnership role and to assist in one of the most important transitions in a lawyer’s career we have developed basic programmes which can be adapted to the specific character of the firm. These programmes can be delivered individually or on a team basis.

• We recognise that non-lawyers occupying management roles in law firms have specific challenges such as working within a partnership culture and inhabiting a world where high levels of technical legal expertise are not shared beyond the fee earners. We can support and guide those staff to understand better what it takes to work effectively with lawyers.

• After acquiring basic legal skills, lawyers aspiring for promotion look to acquire interpersonal competencies. Cresco work with associates / senior solicitors, preparing them with broader skill bases in areas such as time management, delegation and relationship-building.

• We have specific expertise in teambuilding skills and we recognise the tensions that can arise out the conflict between the occupational orientation of individuals and the organisational needs of the firm or department. Many lawyers do not want to be part of a close team and we have a variety of team models which provide for flexibility and independence whilst still building a culture of collaboration.

• At all levels Cresco excels in the development of selling skills: our programmes critically help lawyers to build their relationship skills. We enhance listening and questioning skills, explore how to overcome objections and use some cutting edge tools such as the sales strategy index and facilitative buying to provide some real competitive advantage.

• For those considering their future careers, Cresco will provide opportunities for exploring options and understanding their existing skill-sets. If a decision is made for change, we will provide both support and challenge in the exciting if sometimes unknown adjustments to a new role.
